Why Volunteer

CASA Mental Health’s volunteers help bring our vision and mission to life. More than 300 engaged volunteers allow CASA to serve more families, reduce barriers to mental health care access and allocate more resources to fundraising activities.

Our goal is to offer meaningful opportunities so you can make the biggest difference as a volunteer. There are many ways to get involved, regardless of your time or the skills you’d like to share.

As a CASA volunteer, you will make a positive impact in your community. You will be part of a team, share your experience, learn new skills and develop lasting friendships.

Because of our volunteers, CASA is able to better support, treat and empower kids, youth and families in Alberta.

Ways to Volunteer

There are two volunteer streams at CASA: the support stream and the clinical stream. Both streams offer unique opportunities for volunteers to make an impact.

Support Stream

Every CASA volunteer begins in the support stream. These volunteers provide meaningful assistance with administrative tasks related to programs, research, donor stewardship, marketing and fundraising events. To volunteer in the support stream, you must complete:

  • An application
  • A volunteer placement interview and orientation
  • The required documents and training

Clinical Stream

Clinical stream volunteers support CASA’s clinical programs and have direct contact with patients and families. These volunteers must be comfortable supervising children. Some education in psychology, nursing or social work is recommended, but not required. Clinical stream volunteers must be at least 18-years-old, actively volunteer in the support stream and complete the following (in addition to the support stream requirements):

  • Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check
  • Child Intervention Record Check
