Volunteer

One of CASA’s strongest assets is our dedicated volunteer base. Our goal is to offer meaningful opportunities for you to make the biggest difference as a volunteer, having a real impact on improving the mental health of children, adolescents and families in Alberta.

CASA offers flexible ways to become involved, no matter how much time or skills you have to offer. Our volunteer opportunities take many forms, such as fundraising activities, supporting programs & services, involvement on committees, research assistance, administration, and leadership roles. Check out this feature on one of our volunteers who went above and beyond in creating a guitar lesson program for CASA House youth!

Volunteering with the CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health is a great opportunity for you to make a positive impact in your community, be part of a team, share your experience, learn new skills and develop lasting friendships. Volunteers are critical to our accomplishments and we would not be able to support, inform and empower those touched by mental health issues without you.

Volunteering at CASA is divided into two streams:

Support Stream

Support stream volunteers are integral to CASA’s volunteer team. Support stream volunteers do not directly interact with CASA clients; however, they still make meaningful impacts assisting with administrative tasks related to our programs, research, donor stewardship, promotion, and marketing, as well as supporting CASA fundraising events both in-person and virtually. To be eligible to volunteer in the support stream, you must submit/complete:

  • Application

  • Interview

  • Confidentiality agreement

Clinical Stream

This level has no limitations on what opportunities the volunteer can take on. These volunteers work directly with the patients and families of CASA, and are required to be comfortable being responsible for children alone. Some education in psychology or social work settings is recommended, but not required. To be eligible to volunteer in the clinical stream, you must be 18 years of age or older, and submit/complete:

Please note: CASA requires all staff, physicians, students, and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (meaning they have received a complete vaccine series considered valid by Health Canada and 14 days has elapsed since the final dose) by November 15, 2021. Proof of vaccination is not required at the volunteer application stage. You will be asked for proof if your application proceeds with the interview and placement stages.
