CASA's Volunteer Program was established to support volunteers to be actively involved in our programs and services, and to support many of our special events. Volunteers are an integral part of our team as we strive to accomplish CASA’s mission and goals.
Our volunteer program consists of a wide range of volunteer opportunities split up into three categories: program support, special events, and child minding.
CASA is an active contributor to the Edmonton mental health community. Through our fundraising program, CASA Foundation, we hold many events to raise money and awareness for mental health. Event season starts each year in May with regular fundraising events being held through until September. These events provide many opportunities to volunteer - our CASA Carnival event in May requires around 100 volunteers alone!
For more information regarding our events, please visit the CASA Foundation website.
Our 22 programs are always in need of volunteers and offer valuable real-life experience by providing opportunities to engage in each program and interact with our clients. A few examples of program support opportunities are listed below.
Pre-Kindergarten and Child Day Program assistance
Monthly Adolescent and Child Day Program pancake breakfast
CASA House Mentorship Program
General assistance in our School Age Services program
Trauma and Attachment Group assistance
CASA House gym participation
Child minding is integral to CASA’s daily operations and without it, some clients would not be able to bring their kids in for help. CASA provides childcare at all of our locations for the siblings of the children that are undergoing therapeutic sessions. This lessens the financial burden of childcare and allows the parents and children to focus solely on the session.
Volunteer Internship Program
As a CASA volunteer, we offer you the option of gaining rewards in the form of exclusive opportunities. The program requires the volunteer to commit to 100 hours of volunteering with us over the course of one year. The hours will be split up as listed below:
30 hours special events
40 hours program support
30 hours child minding
The exclusive opportunities, such as shadowing a clinician, are earned every 25 hours completed, and can be redeemed up to a maximum of 4 experiences. Volunteers will also be rewarded with a certificate for their completion of the program when they have accrued the 100 hours.
