Position Details: 0.87 FTE, In Scope, Permanent (This position follows the Edmonton Public School Board academic calendar. The program is closed during Christmas and Spring break and for 7 weeks during the summer. Staff work full-time hours from September to June.

Description                        

The CASA Preschool Day Program (PDP) is a tertiary-level, interdisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic educational resource intended to provide intensive family-centered diagnostic review and therapeutic education, developmental intervention and clinical care in a specialized early childhood setting. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team the Therapy Assistant supports indirect and direct patient care through program coordination and as an extension of the clinical team

 

The therapy assistant performs a variety of activities to support the implementation of care plans including:

  • Plans and implements programs/strategies with specific children or group of children within the classroom environment as outlined by the clinical and team

  • Plans and implements programs/strategies/coaching with specific caregivers or group of caregivers within the home, clinic or group as outlined by the clinical team Develops materials related to varied programs/strategies as determined by the clinical team

  • Maintains appropriate records of planned programs and individual interventions

  • Schedules patient appointments

  • Attends case conference and program business meetings

  • Participates in program intake procedures

  • Monitors clinical charting and program administrative processes

  • Maintains inventory of program supplies and resources

  • Participates in file reviews

  • Supports program evaluation through monitoring of measures and other data

  • Provides direct support to the classroom as needed to cover breaks and when required to ensure child regulation and engagement within the classroom environment

 

Requirements

  • Recognized Therapy Assistant Diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy assistant program, or equivalent

  • Experience working in mental  health, preferably with young children and caregivers

  • Group facilitation skills are an asset

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent time management and prioritizing skills

  • Knowledge of community resources

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team

  • Able to participate in physically demanding activities at times as it relates to working with complex mental health concerns with young children

 

Salary

$24.23 - $30.51 per hour depending on education and experience.
