Edmonton Community Foundation created the COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund and the Emergency Community Support Fund to address the immediate and long-term needs of the charities working with our community’s most vulnerable. So far, ECF has granted a total of more than $4 million to dozens of charities in the greater Edmonton area in response to COVID-19, and CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health is fortunate to be one of them.
CASA has received two grants from ECF:
Remote Consultation Installation – This grant from ECF’s COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund has allowed us acquisition of new hardware and software that is crucial in maintaining safety for staff and clients, while endeavouring to support our clients’ needs. The funding assisted us in moving all clinic-based services to virtual care, which promotes physical distancing as we try to limit the spread of COVID-19. This included the purchase of webcams for clinicians, increased bandwidth, improved remote access, and mobile computers for staff to work from home where possible. Virtual care helps us to deliver our services safely and effectively, using telehealth and web-based technologies rather than in-person appointments. Our concern remains with our children and their families in CASA programs and with our employees, and ECF has helped us to do our very best to ensure they have the resources and support they need in this ongoing uncertain time.
COVID Project for CASA House – In order to address the needs of our rural and Edmonton-based families during the COVID-19 pandemic and to enforce the public health orders related to physical distancing, we needed to increase the technological capacity at CASA House. This grant from ECF’s Emergency Community Support Fund involved the purchase of additional technology, licenses, and subscriptions. This added technology allows multiple group meetings to run at the same time, including the parent support group, multi-family sessions, and videoconferencing for rural families. We were also able to purchase additional PPE supplies to decrease risk of virus spread within CASA House.
On behalf of CASA staff and families, we are incredibly grateful to the Edmonton Community Foundation for these generous grants. Thank you!
