In honour of the inaugural National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th, CASA has decided to dedicate this time to professional development for staff, focused on Indigenous learning.
Staff are encouraged to take part in individual learning and reflection, a community event, or collaborative team activities geared towards the meaningful intent of truth and reconciliation.
CASA recognizes that September 30th is a first step in the journey we will be taking as an organization. We are mindful that this is an important day for reflection. We also know that support for Indigenous Peoples is a year-round need. We need to be strong allies in this ongoing journey toward reconciliation, and we encourage our patients, families, and community partners to continue learning about the damaging legacy these colonial systems have had on our Indigenous neighbors.
Stay tuned in the coming months for updates on changes CASA will be making around these values.
