Job Description

CASA currently has a unique opportunity for a mental health therapist to grow their specialized skills in treatment with children and teens with a fun-loving, energetic team!

The mental health therapist will work together with a cohesive team of psychiatrists, nurses, clinical support workers, addictions counsellors and other therapists. This interdisciplinary team has diverse backgrounds in social work, occupational therapy and psychology.

Duties include:

  • Working with the CASA team and external supports to provide high-quality mental health therapies to children, teens and families.

  • Building specialized parenting skills for caregivers caring for children with exceptional needs.

  • Formulating a diagnosis as appropriate, using the DSM-V and other diagnostic tools.

  • Conducting case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services and other professionals involved with the child and family.

  • Coordinating consultation to others therapists or external stakeholders as appropriate.

  • Providing supervision or preceptorship for student placements.

  • Contributing to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.

Minimum Salary: $42.00

Maximum Salary: $53.90

Hours per Shift: 7.25

Shifts per Week: Five
Days Off: Saturday and Sunday


  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy.

  • A minimum of two years clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.

  • Must be a member in good standing with their respective professional association or college.

  • Demonstrated ability to practice culturally-safe therapeutic interventions.

  • Direct experience with developing and implementing interventions with family units.

  • Knowledge and experience in delivering family therapy-related modalities such as emotion-focused therapy (EFT), emotion-focused family therapy (EFFT) and the Gottman method.

  • Familiarity or experience in mediation, couples therapy or systemic approaches is considered an asset.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Adaptability in incorporating new information, learnings and modalities.
