CASA is a trusted non-profit organization delivering holistic, culturally safe wrap-around mental health services to children (3-18) and their families in Alberta. We do this through a team of specialized mental health professionals who are trauma experts committed to delivering outcomes-based programming in collaboration with community partners. CASA’s vision is a community where all children, youth and their families are provided timely mental health care and empowered to thrive.

As the human resources manager, you will be working with a small, growing team to facilitate all functions of our Human Resources Team within CASA. This is an opportunity for you to contribute to the foundation of a new HR department within CASA and help cultivate the people necessary for CASA to meet its ambitious five-year plan.

In the next year, you will play a key role in the implementation of a new HRIS, contribute to the negotiation of a new collective agreement with HSAA and mentor our current HR team. Through this time period you will have the opportunity to manage day to day operations while also contributing to strategic, organization-wide initiatives. Job Description

Reporting to the director of people and culture, the human resources manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and analyzing the operations of the Human Resources Department. Key areas of accountability include policy and procedure development; human resource planning; labour relations; recruitment selection and onboarding; and the analysis and improvement of HR metrics. In addition to remaining current with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce all established organizational policies and procedures and the collective agreement. This role further requires the individual to maintain positive relationships between the management team and employees. The human resources manager will:

  • Oversee the Human Resources Department operations and processes.

  • Develop and execute strategic human resource plan based on organizational needs and program development.

  • Provide leadership and support in the recruitment, selection and onboarding of new employees and provide hands-on support when needed.

  • Oversee the benefit, disability and WCB programs and provide leadership support on plan renewal and/or reviews, claims and return to work plans.

  • Ensure the human resource policies reflect the collective agreement and meet the requirements of appropriate legislation.

  • Provide oversight and management of CASA’s job classification system.

Minimum Salary: $110,000

Maximum Salary: $125,000

Hours Per Shift: 7.75

Shifts Per Week: Five

Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in human resources management, business or related field.

  • Five to seven years of progressive human resources management experience.

  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation preferred.

  • Experience working in a non-profit, unionized, medical and/or mental health environment is considered an asset.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR-related legislation such as the Alberta Employment Standards Code, Alberta Labour Relations Code and other acts applicable to assigned province(s) and well as human rights.

  • Familiarity and knowledge of OHS is considered an asset.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop relationships while establishing trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders.

  • A proven self-starter that is eager to learn and tackle multiple projects with competing timelines.

  • Proven experience with agility and the ability to shift priorities as needed.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.
