Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Evaluation, Research and Innovation is responsible for providing organizational leadership in the achievement of CASA’s vision, mission, values, and business and strategic priorities. The Director works collaboratively with program managers and multi-disciplinary team members to ensure success in the areas of evaluation, research, and quality and risk management. The Director also develops and fosters collaborative linkages with other healthcare organizations, academic partners, and community organizations. The Director plays a key role in supporting the CASA Research Chair in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, a partnership with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta.


The main responsibilities of the Director of Evaluation and Research are:

  • Lead and manage a team of staff, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management

  • Support strategic and operational planning for the organization

  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization and with other stakeholders to identify priorities for research and innovation

  • Develop and foster research and innovation partnerships with academic, service delivery, technology, and other organizations

  • Work closely with the CASA Research Chair and support implementation and growth of the initiative

  • Oversee evaluation and monitoring of programs and organizational performance

  • Develop grant applications

  • Prepare and present a variety of communication and knowledge translation materials such as reports, peer-reviewed journal manuscripts, infographics, and presentations



  • Doctorate in a discipline that provides expertise in research and evaluation methods

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in evaluation

  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership / management role

  • Strong background in evaluation and research methodologies

  • Experience in both quantitative and qualitative methods

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Experience in data analysis software such as R 

  • Excellent leadership skills and mentorship skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, team environment

  • Have a positive attitude and drive for continuous learning and improvement

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)


$80,841.12 - $102,407.11 depending on education and experience
