The Development Officer, Annual Giving’s major area of responsibility is the planning, development and execution of a comprehensive Annual Giving Program at CASA. The position reports to the Director, Marketing and Fund Development. This position organizes, plans and implements programs to secure annual and monthly gifts through direct mail and email as well as other marketing tools like the online giving site. The Annual Giving program feeds into CASA’s Major Gift program, by engaging and identifying potential major and legacy donors.



  • Manages and grows direct response fundraising campaigns. Through successful acquisition, stewardship and retention of annual and monthly donors the Development Officer, Annual Giving is accountable to meet annual targets.

  • Develops a strategy and campaign plan for the Spring, Fall and Holiday Reminder Appeals. A special emphasis will be evolving and growing the program to become more sophisticated – especially through online activity.

  • Manages and grows direct response revenue with a core focus on donor retention and acquisition.

  • Manages the Annual Giving budget, projecting revenue and expenses.

  • Manages relationships with CASA program leaders, including managing their involvement in the development of annual appeals and working in collaboration with the Marketing Officer on the execution of marketing and communications strategy.

  • Manages the relationship and work product development with external direct response vendors to develop innovative campaigns while implementing effective list segmentations and acquisitions to increase direct response revenue and number of donors.

  • Develops communications and advertising plans for appeals.

  • Works in collaboration to ensure effective delivery of mailing lists for direct mail/annual giving appeals (and other CASA mailings).

  • Manages all print and mail house vendor relationships, working to reduce costs while increasing quality, deliverability and response.

  • Reports and monitors direct mail activities and key indicators set in the Fundraising Plan.

  • Manages and grows Monthly Giving Program.

  • Increases institutional knowledge of the donor journey and respond with applicable strategies.

  • Increases direct response testing and online activity strategies.

  • Assists with the identification of Major and Planned gift prospects from annual giving donors.



Undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.


Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fundraising or account portfolio management role.

  • Effectiveness in building and nurturing strong relationships with donors, volunteers, staff, colleagues and other stakeholders.

  • Experience managing vendors.

  • A solid understanding of metrics analysis and effective fundraising best practices.

  • Proficient in Donor Perfect or similar fundraising database.

  • Familiarity with fundraising and/or marketing concepts and practices.

  • Familiarity with managing a budget.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

  • Considerable experience in performing work of a self-directed nature, requiring judgement and sensitivity towards confidential information.

  • Attention and accuracy to detail is critical.

  • Excellent project coordination skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a high volume, results-orientated environment.

  • Demonstrated capacity to handle complex and highly confidential matters with excellent judgement, discretion and tact.

  • Advanced computer skills required, including knowledge of MS program suite.

  • Must be vaccinated against COVID-19.
