We do this through a team of specialized mental health professionals who are trauma-informed and committed to delivering outcomes-based programming in collaboration with community partners. CASA’s vision is a community where all children, youth and their families are provided timely mental health care and empowered to thrive.

We are looking for child care counsellors to join our team at CASA House. CASA provides an opportunity to work on a multi-disciplinary team that makes a positive impact on adolescent lives! They will collaborate with the team, ensuring timely and appropriate mental health service delivery.

Job Description

Reporting to the clinical manager, the child care counsellor works collaboratively with their colleagues in a team environment providing treatment to adolescents with significant mental health challenges and their families. The child care counsellor provides behaviour management, guidance, support, supervision and case management to the children or adolescents and their families in the program. The child care counsellor:

  • Participates in case management of assigned adolescents and their families.

  • Implements and monitors individual treatment plans for the adolescents.

  • Maintains clinical records.

  • Supervises and organizes daily living activities for the adolescents.

  • Provides supervision of adolescents during unscheduled program hours.

  • Conducts individual and group activities as a member of the program team.

  • Diploma or degree in child and youth care, BSW, BA or BSc (psychology).

  • Possess previous experience working in children’s mental health.

  • Be fluent in case management and supportive counselling for adolescents and their families.

  • Be clinically effective in building rapport with adolescents and their families.

  • Be experienced in working within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Have a positive and energetic demeanor.

  • Have a flexible schedule to accommodate different shifts required in the child care counsellor (casual) position.
