CASA is a trusted non-profit organization delivering holistic, culturally safe wrap-around mental health services to children (3-18) and their families in Alberta. We do this through a team of specialized mental health professionals who are trauma experts committed to delivering outcomes-based programming in collaboration with community partners. The clinical educator will bring their life-long love of learning and wealth of clinical experience to CASA, where they will use their knowledge and skills to collaborate with and to support a dedicated and talented team to provide the best possible service to clients. They play a critical role in promoting a culture of team building, self-reflection, and skill development in order to meet the needs of CASA’s clients and their families. They will work with clinical managers to carefully plan to meet educational goals through direct instruction, or through learning opportunities organized by the clinical educator across all CASA programs and sites. This is an amazing opportunity for the clinical educator to put their soft skills and clinical experience to use with the ultimate goal of improving client outcomes.

Job Description

Reporting to the manager, clinical – professional development and education, the clinical educator is responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of clinical training activities for CASA staff and physicians. The clinical educator will provide knowledge sharing through workshops and presentation, training materials, research, and clinical planning and development to meet program needs. The clinical educator works closely with CASA’s human resources and clinical leadership team, as well as participates on internal and external committees as assigned. Duties include:

  • Works collaboratively with CASA leadership to determine, design, implement, deliver and track organization-wide clinical training priorities.

  • Leads training and clinical aspects of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) implementation across the organization

  • Designs and implements a training plan/strategy to meet expressed clinical training needs.

  • Provides leadership by identifying patient safety issues and initiating corrective action in consultation with staff. Encourages open reporting about patient safety events including near misses or concerns.

  • Ensures self, staff, physicians, students and volunteers are aware of and prepared for their responsibilities for patient safety while engaged in the work of CASA.

  • Models and encourages effective communication within and between teams to promote a safe, respectful and trusting workplace culture.

Primary Location: CASA Centre

Minimum Salary: $95,000

Maximum Salary: $110,000

Hours Per Shift: 7.75

Shifts Per Week: Five

Days Off: Saturday/Sunday

Qualifications

  • Registered Psychologist (M.A. or Ph.D. level), Registered Social Worker (Clinical designation preferred),

  • Minimum five years of clinical experience delivering children’s mental health and youth addictions treatment.

  • Demonstrated experience as an educator and/or facilitator.

  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation, design and delivery of clinical education workshops and training to a broad range of audiences.

  • Demonstrated experience with a number of clinical therapeutic modalities such as, but not limited to; CBT, DBT, Solution Focused, Brief Therapy, post crisis debriefing, trauma therapies

  • Experience in group facilitation, such as working groups, is an asset.
