Referral and Orientation
How to Refer:
Physicians and mental health practitioners are invited to refer adolescents to the Adolescent Day Program. The referring clinician should discuss the possibility of attending the program with the adolescent and his/her family and provide them with information about the program’s expectations. The adolescent’s guardian must support the referral. Adolescent Day Program is a voluntary program. See Admission to CASA.
When the Adolescent Day Program team receives a referral, a member of the team will contact the adolescent’s guardian to invite them to an information session to learn about the program. Following the information session and completion of the application forms, the family will then advise the team of their decision regarding admission into the program. The referring party will be advised by a team member of the outcome of the information session. The referring therapist, teachers and other key service providers may be invited to attend a transfer conference as part of the admission process.
