Academic Support
School instruction is an integral part of the Adolescent Day Program.
The majority of adolescents attending the program have experienced
difficulties in school settings. Many of these adolescents have learning
disabilities in addition to mental health diagnoses.
Educational programming is provided by two Edmonton Public School
teachers. Individualized educational planning is integrated into an
overall treatment plan with the teachers participating as members of the
treatment team. Individualized instruction is provided for junior and
senior high school students focusing on language arts, mathematics, and
physical education.
The goals of the academic program are:
a) To improve the student’s attitudes toward learning, school and teachers.b) To develop an Individualized Program Plan (IPP) for each student.
c) To prepare students to re-enter an appropriate community school or alternative school setting.
