Bling and Swing Golf Classic 2008 - Another Success Story
Tournament Raises $181,000

It was a memorable day at the Blackhawk Golf Course on Friday, September 5th, 2008 site of the second annual “Bling and Swing Golf Classic”.   Reg Shah of Michael Anthony Jewellers, founder and sponsor of the tournament, continues to amaze us with his passion and dedication to the work of CASA.

Much to the delight of all those who attended was the participation of Craig Stadler, winner of the Masters and numerous other PGA and Champions Tour events, in the tournament. He joined the golfers for breakfast, gave a clinic prior to the tournament and held a question and answer segment after the dinner and live auction.

The tournament once again attracted major sponsors, donors and golfers. Danny Hooper was emcee and auctioneer, providing his usual wit and ability to engage everyone. The highlight of the evening was when naming rights to 20 bedrooms in the new CASA House, being built on the site of the Strathcona Hospital in Sherwood Park sold for $5000 each. After 6 were purchased, Mohammed Moussa from La Z Boy Furniture Gallery bought the remaining 14 rooms for $70,000. This drew a well deserved round of applause from the crowd. Overall, the tournament raised a total of $181,000.

CASA is extremely fortunate to have so many friends and supporters in the community. We would like to thank all the sponsors, participants, donors and volunteers for their generosity and good will. Special thanks goes to Reg Shah – a man whose energy and vision knows no bounds. Congratulations to everyone involved!
